Srila Prabhupada — A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada — is the founder-acharya of ISKCON and the figure most responsible for carrying Gaudiya Vaishnavism to a global audience in the twentieth century. His place among the Gaudiya saints
Within this carousel of Gaudiya Vaishnava saints specifically, Prabhupada is honored not primarily for the institution he built but for his personal position within the disciplic succession, guru-parampara, descending from Chaitanya Mahaprabhu through Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura, and for the sheer scale of his own literary output: complete English translations with detailed purport of the Bhagavad Gita, the Srimad Bhagavatam and the Chaitanya Charitamrita, works that remain the primary scriptural resource for the great majority of English-speaking Gaudiya Vaishnavas today, whether or not they are formally affiliated with ISKCON itself.
A guru to a generation of Western disciples
Several other saints featured elsewhere in this carousel — including Radhanath Swami and Sacinandana Swami — trace their own initiation directly to Prabhupada, having encountered him personally during his years of travel and teaching in the West.
